FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a mining licence in Sierra Leone?
Licences are issued by the National Minerals Agency under the Mines and Minerals Development Act 2022. The path usually runs from a reconnaissance or exploration licence to a small-scale or large-scale mining licence, each with its own fees, work programme and environmental requirements. We prepare and file the application and handle the follow-up.
How long does a feasibility study take?
A scoping study for a small alluvial project takes [4 to 8] weeks. A full feasibility study for a hard-rock project takes [6 to 12] months, mainly driven by drilling and metallurgical test work.
Can you work on projects outside Sierra Leone?
Yes. Besides Sierra Leone we have connected operations and partners in Liberia, Mali, DR Congo and Madagascar and run exploration, studies and project management there with local teams.
What does mine planning cost?
We quote a fixed fee per phase after the target review. Exploration and drilling are billed on programme, studies at a fixed price.
